Sunday 18th January. Blessed Crow

The Blessèd Crow are Tim and Iona Crahart; a talented father-daughter duo with a gift for writing songs which express their passionate and positive attitude to life. With Iona’s strong clear voice and Tim’s highly accomplished musicianship they deliver an energetic and uplifting set.Their original songs in a traditional style and call upon folklore, true stories and spiritual themes for their inspiration. Many of their songs relate to local folk tales such as The Pwca or to historical events like The Newport Rising. All of this is tempered with a slice of good old fashioned protest songs.
Tim and Iona share the vocal duties and create marvellous harmonies accompanied by guitar, bouzouki or mandola, played by Tim and driven along by Iona’s bodhran.

Sunday 1st February. TangleJack

After three decades of making music together, John-Paul Davies and Duncan Leigh have perfected their unique acoustic double-duet sound. Through tight two-part harmonising and intricate, interweaving guitar lines Tangle Jack conjure an extraordinary four part texture. And it is on stage that the chemistry behind the TangleJack sound can really be seen.Sharing a history that began some 30 years ago, as the arty outsiders in the brass bands of the South Wales valleys John-Paul and Duncan formed a friendship that outlasted their teenage rock band years, as well as the jazz and classical meanderings of their studies, to return to their folk/rock roots as well-travelled musicians. Having spent their lives becoming the band and the people they were always supposed to be. John-Paul and Duncan have managed 30 years of music making without a cross word – three decades of friendship without ever falling out! They want to share that friendship and love with audiences across the UK through their live classics and new songs from their latest album, “The Ragged Edge “.
“This is a band that can really move an audience and keep them engaged and involved. I highly recommend heading out to one of their live shows.” ABABAC Magazine
“If Simon and Garfunkel had grown up in contemporary South Wales, this
might have been the music they produced” folking.com
